Matthew T. Ricks, DO
General & Bariatric Surgeon
Dr. Ricks is an advanced laparoscopic (minimally invasive) general surgeon. He specializes in bariatric surgery and has been performing bariatric procedures for 12 years. He has performed 2000+ Bariatric Surgeries. He is certified to perform laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy operations.
Dr Ricks is an attending surgeon for the general surgery residency program at Des Peres Hospital and is actively involved in the education of residents, interns and students. He is recognized by the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the American Osteopathic Association.
Dr. Ricks graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor of science in exercise physiology. He went to medical school at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his internship and residency in general surgery at Des Peres Hospital.
Dr. Ricks enjoys spending time with his wife, five children and brittnay spaniel. His interests include backpacking, biking, horseback riding, water and snow skiing, archery and fishing.
